Sohar International's Chief Transformation Officer resigns

After a successful tenure leading digital transformation initiatives at Sohar International Bank, Ewan MacLeod has stepped down from his role as Chief Transformation Officer to focus on his advisory firm, New Era Digital Partners, based in DIFC Dubai.

During his time at Sohar International, Ewan led numerous digital initiatives that enhanced the bank's customer experience and operational efficiency, positioning the institution as a digital leader in Oman's banking sector.

MacLeod joined Sohar International in February 2020, bringing extensive experience from his previous role as Chief Digital Officer at Nordea, one of the largest financial services groups in the Nordic region. His appointment marked a significant step in the bank's digital transformation journey.

"It has been an incredible journey working with the talented team at Sohar International," said MacLeod. "The bank has made remarkable progress in its digital transformation, and I'm proud of what we've accomplished together. I'm now excited to take on new challenges with New Era Digital Partners."

Under MacLeod's leadership, Sohar International implemented several key digital initiatives, including enhanced mobile banking services, improved customer onboarding processes, and the adoption of innovative fintech solutions. These initiatives contributed to the bank's reputation as a forward-thinking financial institution in the region.

New Era Digital Partners, MacLeod's advisory firm, will focus on providing digital transformation guidance to banks and financial institutions across the Middle East, drawing on his extensive experience from both European and Middle Eastern markets.

The transition reflects the growing trend of senior banking executives moving into advisory roles, where they can leverage their expertise to support multiple institutions in their digital transformation journeys.
