UK PRS gets stuffed by YouTube

The world’s second largest search engine, Youtube, is about to switch off all premium music videos for UK users. Because the Performing Rights Society cannot get it’s act together.

Here’s the report from BBC News.

Youtube was paying a particular fee level.

PRS was accepting a particular fee.

And now PRS wants more.

Youtube isn’t having it.

Who’s right and who’s wrong?

The customer.

But who’s the customer in this situation?

Complicated.

But stupid, at the same time.

Make it easy to discover the music, make it reasonable, don’t put stupid hoops in the way and I’ll buy it…
