Taiwanese each get $108 shopping vouchers
That’s right! The Taiwanese Government has given every citizen a shopping voucher worth $108 USD. Is it, CNN reports:
…a combination of a lunar New Year gift and economic stimulus package designed to pump about 86 billion ($2.6 billion U.S.) into the economy.
Smart.
Forget reducing VAT. Forget giving billions to banks who simply horde the cash because they don’t know what else to do.
If you want to immediately stimulate the economy, give the cash — in the form of vouchers that have to be *spent* — directly to the citizens and watch them blow it.
